PEARS have been in hibernation mode this past winter; but all that is about to change. Next month, our favorite southerners will be unleashing vast amounts of pent up energy across the country. First up is a Midwest and East Coast run with Me First and the Gimme Gimmes and Masked Intruder. Then, they’ll dip into the South with a flurry of headlining shows which shouldn’t be missed. Don’t believe us? Watch them blow up their TOUR VAN to get an idea of just how far they’ll go. Next, they head to Europe for a bunch of festival appearances including, Rebellion Festival in the U.K. and Punk Rock Holiday in Slovenia. Check out all the dates and info here! If you’re late to the floor-stomping party, then you should familiarize yourself with their just-about-a-year-old masterpiece, Green Star. Wondering what they’ve been up to this past winter? Rest assured, we have good news coming. Stay tuned!
This is not a drill. Yep, Frenzal Rhomb, the most hospitalized band in the world — seriously, everything from broken drumming arms and detached guitar-playing retinas to an actual pig-borne tapeworm in the lead singer’s brain — are releasing their ninth full-length record. Out May 26th, Hi-Vis High Tea, is the band’s first new material since 2011’s resurgent Smoko at the Pet Food Factory. Recorded once again by Bill Stevenson (Descendents, Black Flag) and Jason Livermore at The Blasting Room, Hi-Vis High Tea, features 20 songs in just over 30 frenetic minutes. Since we’re decent, thoughtful Frenzal fans just like yourselves, we won’t leave you hanging. Today, you can get your first taste of their catchy, punk rock antics, with this must-see video, complete with another lovely, freshly-coined term for its title: ‘’Cunt Act.’’ Watch, and then pre-order your copy today! Europe, go here. Australia, snag yours here. Then, check out the Australian-sized tour they have planned!
Well, 2015 has come and gone, and we still need…roads. Also, time machines still aren’t a thing! However, our ongoing Original Demos Series allows you to travel back in time …back to when some of your favorite bands recorded demos of some of their best songs.
We are thrilled to reveal that No Use for a Name will be our fourth installment in this 7” vinyl series, coming at you on May 5th! The two song 7" features a never-before-heard demo of “Justified Black Eye” from Leche Con Carne, coupled with an extremely rare demo of “Sidewalk” from the Making Friends album. We found these songs on 20-year-old reels in our tape archive and knew we couldn’t keep them to ourselves. This release will be vinyl only, no digital, so pre-order your copy today!
Next up, another blast from the past, Hi-Standard! Last year, Pizza of Death released Another Starting Line, their first release of new material in 16 years. We’re always looking to expand our vinyl catalog, so when the band asked if we would press up their new EP, complete with a brand new throwback record cover, we jumped at the chance! This vinyl-only 7" release is also out on May 5th and you can pre-order it here.
Lastly, you can pre-order the brand new face to face 7”, Say What You Want, a double A-side single containing a previously unreleased song from the Protection sessions called “I, Me, Mine.” This song is a classic single track—an absolute barnburner—that didn’t quite fit on the Protection album. Don’t miss them on their Econolive tour —a throwback to the band’s epic 1996 tour—which commences this May.
