The Mad Caddies Keep It Going CD out today!!!

The unPresident is showing a sturdy veto boner today and there seems to be no peace in sight. You know what is peaceful though…reggae music! If we could just get him into one of these and make this guy the Secretary of Defense then I think he wouldn’t be so pinched and we could chill. Luckily we have the Mad Caddies as our international ambassadors of good will. Their new cd, Keep It Going, comes out today and we still have autographed copies left. You can only get these signed CD’s through our webstore so bup bup, hurry up!

Oh yeah, sign up for the e-mail newsletter on the front page because we are sending out a new one later today and Fat Mike has included some funny stuff about NOFX’s recent tour. Remember…if you don’t like something we do then put your money where your mouse is and yell at us about it here:

Mad Caddies Keep It Going CD pre-order! Autographed copies through Fat mailorder.

Mother’s Day is coming up and I can’t think of a better present than some sweet reggae music. Everyone knows that 9 out of 10 mothers prefer irie spliffs and Jah grooves on their most special day…we did the market research…trust us. You’re mum’s in luck because you can now pre-order the brand new Mad Caddies CD, Keep It Going, which comes out next Tuesday, May 1st. If you order through the Fat webstore you can get an autographed copy of the cd (while supplies last so don’t get bent when we run out).

Here’s a little bit of info about the record for you…After 4 full lengths, one EP and a live record, Santa Barbara’s finest reggae, ska, punk, dixieland, rock, jazz, country, etc. band returns with their 5th full length record. Keep It Going lends itself heavily to reggae and takes the listener on a musical journey from lively Jamaican dancehalls to the underground DIY music venues of America. Features production work from Grammy award winning producer Wayne Jobson (No Doubt, Gregory Isaacs, Toots & the Maytals) and a guest appearance from reggae legend Duckie Simpson (Black Uhuru) on a cover of Delroy Wilson’s classic “Riding For a Fall”. Bup Bup!

The Caddies create some choice reggae jams but I think these guys aren’t too shabby either.

The Flatliners join the Fat family!

Our family just got a little bigger, and it’s not from Fat Mike bringing home any babies from China. We are excited to announce the signing of the Flatliners from Toronto, Ontario. Despite the whole band being under the age of 21, these four Canucks have been together for 5 years and released one full length, a handful of EP’s and splits and have toured relentlessly. The band has a straight forward punk sound with a hint of Operation Ivy and Dillinger Four. They are currently recording their Fat debut tentatively titled The Great Awake which is due out in August. You can listen to two brand new demos (“And the World Files for Chapter 11” and “Mother Teresa Choke Slams the World”) on their Myspace page. Fat is putting out the record worldwide minus Canada which will be handled by Union 2112 Records. No smoke and mirrors, no illusions, no bullshit…just good songs.

Good Riddance says farewell

It is with a heavy heart that we have to say goodbye to one of our longtime, loyal Fat Wreck Chords bands, Good Riddance. We can’t thank them enough for letting us be associated with their band and they will be genuinely missed and fondly remembered. Find a way to make it out to their final shows and help them celebrate what they meant to all of us. Here is a farewell statement from the band…

*After over ten years, eight albums and countless tours, Santa Cruz, CA’s GOOD RIDDANCE has decided to call it a career. We have deliberated heavily on this decision and we all agree that it is the logical and practical next step for our band. It is with the utmost sense of gratitude and humility that we have arrived at this conclusion. We have been given a truly great gift and a tremendous opportunity to pursue a dream and we have accomplished far more than any of us ever thought possible.

All of the members of GOOD RIDDANCE have become increasingly busy with other life interests (work, family, etc.) which have made it difficult to tour with the same frequency we (and our fans) had grown accustomed to. It has also become evident that the musical landscape has continued to change and the material we play has been, to some degree, left behind. We understand that we still have some of the most loyal and dedicated fans in the world and without all of you none of this would have been possible. However, we have seen bands burn out and we have seen bands slowly decline. It is our ultimate goal to be able to walk away from this with a degree of grace and dignity and be able to look back on our modest career with nothing but fond memories. We have no desire to limp along until some outside force has the good sense to put us out of our misery. We hope all of our fans will understand.

We are planning to play 3 “Final Shows” in California over this upcoming Memorial Day weekend 2007 (May 25, 26 & 27) in Hollywood, San Diego and finally ending in our hometown of Santa Cruz. We hope as many of our fans as possible can make it out to these shows and help us finish strong. More info on these dates (venues, times, etc) will be released soon so keep checking both the Good Riddance and FAT Wreck Chords websites as well as our band profile on My Space. Smoke or Fire and No Trigger will be opening all the shows.

A massive thank you to the people at FAT Wreck Chords, our families, Mario Reza, all of the incredible bands and people we’ve met through the years and especially to all of our incredible fans and supporters. It has been an amazing journey. THANK YOU!!

GOOD RIDDANCE Chuck Platt, Russ Rankin, Luke Pabich & Sean Sellers*

Spring Has Sprung! 4 fer 3 Pre-Easter/Passover CD Blowout!

What do rabbits shooting unhatched chicken babies out of their asses, Jewish people and bloody doorknobs have in common? They are all things you see while on acid? Wait a second, it means SPRING IS HERE!!! In honor of the maladjusted child between winter and summer we decided to have a BIG SALE in our web store. From March 22nd to April 20th we are offering a “4 cds for the price of 3” promotion. Just throw 4 cds into your shopping cart and you will get one of them for FREE when you go to check out. This is way better than someone hiding chemically dyed embryos from you in some cruel, genetic scavenger hunt. I know that “Spring Forward, Fall Back” sounds like the name of a crappy hardcore record but we wanted to do something nice for all of you on this promising equinox. Ass, grass or Passover, you get a cd for free!

Fat Mike is about to leave us home alone for the weekend and head out to Japan with NOFX. He left the credit card for us to get food and drinks so we should be fine. I don’t want to come back to this house and find out that you HAVEN’T had a party. NOFX will be taking Dead To Me along for the ride and there are still tickets available for these shows. Get ’em here.

Lastly, Strike Anywhere posted this huge update and they mention that guitarist Matt Sherwood has played his last show and has left the band under good terms. We here at Fat just want to wish Matt well. He’s a great guy with a smooth chin.
