But thatâs not all! Fat Mike has this great news to report while on tour from across the pond:
Things I learned going to Ireland: Don’t order Bushmills in Dublin. Don’t order Jameson in Belfast. Don’t drink too much on the ferry, or too little, cuz either way, you will get sick.
Oh, this is the important news: the NOFX record comes out today. What’s more important is that it will be priced under $10 in every store in North America. This is not a sale. This is how much this CD costs, and not only that, but EVERY CD on Fat Wreck Chords will now be under $10 and most will be under $8.
No, we are not crazy. We just think that having a very low CD price is a fair way for scene supporting music fans to support their favorite independent bands and labels. Sound crazy? I think it sounds reasonable. We make less profit, but bands hopefully will sell more CDs to more people, which is why we started doing this in the first place.
Ok, I’m off the ferry now, but still seasick. I think this whole island might be floating.

Itâs not even April Foolâs this time! Yep, you heard right, we are proud to announce that on July 7th, 2009 Fat Wreck Chords will be releasing The Original Cowboy by Against Me!. These predominantly never-before-heard demos were recorded at Goldentone Studio in Gainesville, FL with Rob McGregor on July 15th, 2003. The session was scheduled prior to Against Me!âs trip to Memphisâ Ardent Studios where As The Eternal Cowboy was recorded (the bandâs first release with Fat). Tom Gabel explains the decision to go to Ardent: âHaving already recorded our first full length album and two previous EPs with Rob at Goldentone, we wanted to do something different for our second full length. We specifically wanted to make an all analog recording with as few overdubs as possible which is what we could do at Ardent. With Rob McGregor coming along to produce, we wanted to make sure he was familiar with the songs, so we made this demo recording.â
At the insistence of Fat Mike, the song âCavalier Eternalâ from the 7/15/03 session did end up making it onto As The Eternal Cowboy, Mike preferring the demo to the version made at Ardent. Gabel describes the natural ease and success of those July sessions: âRecorded and mixed in only a couple of hours, The Original Cowboy was only meant to be a trial run, but, listening to it today, thereâs a part of me that feels foolish for ever recording these songs a second time.â
1. A Brief Yet Triumphant Introduction/Cliche Guevarra
2. Mutiny On The Electronic Bay
4. Rice And Bread
5. Cavalier Eternal
6. Unsubstantiated Rumors
7. Slurring The Rhythms
8. You Look Like I Need A Drink/ Turn Those Clapping Hands Into Angry Balled Fists
The Original Cowboy will be available on CD, vinyl LP and iTunes, with a limited color vinyl run available to early bird buyers. Check back soon for more release news, but in the meantime, check out Against Me!âs Fat Wreck Chords release history right here!
