No Use for a Name The Feel Good Record of the Year out now!

No Use for a Name are one of independent music’s most dominant and everlasting forces and nothing could solidify their firm grip on the underground more than their upcoming 9th proper studio release. The band recorded in Ft. Collins, CO at the Blasting Room with legendary producer Bill Stevenson (Descendents, Black Flag, Only Crime). This could very well be their best record to date, both in song quality and production value and Fat Mike thinks it’s the “best NUFAN record since the 90’s”. The 14 song record is a perfect blend of all their previous albums. The band is about to head out on an extensive European run appropriately titled “The Feel Good Tour of the Year” followed by the second leg of the Fat Tour 2008 and then a trip to Australia with Strung Out. A video for the song “Biggest Lie” has just been completed and you can see a few still photos from the shoot here. We have autographed copies of the CD (while supplies last) for those of you that order directly from us.

Good Riddance Remain in Memory – The Final Show out now + back catalog sale

On May 27th of 2007 Good Riddance played their last show ever to a sold out crowd in their hometown of Santa Cruz, CA. Being one of Fat’s longest running bands, we thought it only proper to document the evening in the form of a LIVE RECORD. The set list reads more like a greatest hits album, mixing the best of the band’s 12+ year career and touching on favorites from each of their seven full lengths on Fat, EP’s and 7"s. The final product truly captures the energy present in the room that night and is a perfect final chapter for Good Riddance. We posted the third and final mp3 from the record here and we are running a BIG SALE on their back catalog releases. This band is single-handedly responsible for kick-starting Floyd’s acting career and we are going to miss them. Singer, Russ Rankin, had these comments about the release:

On a hectic day in late May 2007 one of the most exhausting and exhilarating chapters in my life came to a close. We’d played San Diego the previous night and with a set list of almost 30 songs, my voice was starting to go on strike. We had to be at the venue in Santa Cruz early for extra sound checks due to the live recording so I found myself leaving my hotel room in Hollywood around 6:00am for the 6 hour drive north. I was exhausted (hadn’t gotten back to Hollywood after the San Diego show until about 3:00am the previous night) and very concerned about my voice. After a whirlwind load-in and soundcheck the show finally got underway. As was expected the guest list was a nightmare and we weren’t happy about the barricade in front of the stage but the show ended up going off just about as flawlessly as one could hope for. As the last note of the final song echoed and decayed into the still, night air I was overwhelmed with a sense of gratitude for what we were able to achieve and experience during the band’s career. It was an emotional moment for me and it served to punctuate an unforgettable evening and a bittersweet event for the band and thousands of our fans. All I can say is “Thank You” to everyone who supported us through the years and I hope you enjoy this documentation of our final show.

NOFX: BACKSTAGE PASSPORTDOCUMENTARY SERIES ON FUSE TV

Fuse TV is going to be airing a series of documentaries on NOFX starting on April 15th at 10pm EST. Here is a statement from the band…

*So we got the bright idea to take two camera dudes on this sketchy tour we booked and make a documentary. We went to Singapore, Peru, Israel, South Africa, Turkey, Korea; you get the idea…countries where maybe punk music isn’t too popular.

After a few weeks we realized there’s way too much semi-interesting, sorta funny, kind of embarrassing stuff going on. How are we gonna fit all this on a DVD? So we thought maybe TV? Nah, that’s never gonna happen—we’re not nearly as funny as Travis Barker. But we made a little trailer anyhow and showed it to some of our friends at Fuse. They loved it and showed it to some of their bosses. Their bosses didn’t get it at all and told us they would call. We knew what that meant, so it was back to the DVD idea.

We kept the camera dudes on tour with us for the next year and some pretty cool stuff happened. Well…not cool for us, but cool for the DVD. Stuff like not getting paid, cops shutting down shows, Muslims getting pissed at us, Jews getting pissed at us, scoring the wrong drugs, getting beat up by Japanese women in latex, getting beat up by a Russian man in a pointy hat and basically having a super great time.

We finished the tour in South Africa and came home. We figured we might as well show it to the Fuse people again. (We showed it to HBO too, and they told us that maybe if we were U2 they would consider it…diss.) By this time Fuse had hired new people and the new folks loved it. They said they wanted to make it into a documentary series. Coolage! We signed the papers and now we have a TV show.

After months and months of editing and fighting amongst ourselves, we have 8 episodes of a show, but after you account for commercials it’s only about the length of a really long movie. Think Titanic meets Spinal Tap. NOFX never had a video on MTV, but now we have a documentary on TV. Weird how things work out. Anyhow, it comes out in April sometime. My neighbors are never going to speak to me again.*

Fat Tour 2008 Leg #2 Tour Dates Announced!

We have just posted all the tour dates and ticket links for the Northwestern leg of the Fat Tour 2008 featuring NOFX, No Use For a Name and American Steel! You might be looking at the list below and think “That’s a pretty short leg” but sometimes things with a short leg are completely killer like those freaky mountain goats or Rivers Cuomo. Besides, he got that shit fixed after the Blue Album and try telling me how somebody with normal, boring legs could write a song as good as “Say It Ain’t So.” We’re going to post the first mp3 from the upcoming No Use for a Name record next week to get you ready for the start of the first leg of the tour. We’re cooking up some cool road diaries, podcasts, videos and contests for the tour and we’ll let you know about those soon. Here’s the dates:

May 2nd Denver, CO - The Fillmore Auditorium
May 3rd SLC, UT - In the Venue
May 4th Missoula, MT - TBA
May 6th Edmonton, Alberta - AgriCom - Hall B
May 7th Calgary, Alberta - MacEwan Hall Ballroom
May 9th Vancouver, BC - Commodore Ballroom
May 10th Seattle, WA - Showbox Sodo
